What on earth is that? This is a type of design I am very fond of. Many cities, towns and municipalities have employed their own graphic designer to design their branding, letterhead and various other pieces for their tourism divisions. Recently I did a design for the city of Sechelt, British Columbia. Not only was it fun to do, but it was very cool to learn about the town as well.
One of the many reasons I love this type of design is because it's simple, modern but also lets you know a bit about the location within the logo. I live in British Columbia and I can honestly say it is one of the most beautiful places on earth. It also has a lot of places that have invested in their tourism and so they have hired a graphic designer to make them look fancy and spruce up their tourism.
I've had the pleasure of visiting some of these places and I'm also so thrilled to see good design make it's way into everyday life in these cities.
